Meet The Team

Matt Hawkins (Director):
Matt is a Chicago-based director, actor, fight choreographer and movement director. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Film, Television, and Theatre at The University of Notre Dame where he serves as the Director of Musical Theatre and the Creative Producer of the New Works Lab. He is a Founding Member of The House Theatre of Chicago, an Artistic Associate and Resident Director with Strawdog Theatre, and has been an Artistic Associate with 500 Clown. He has also worked with The Kennedy Center, Stratford Shakespeare Festival, Steppenwolf, Goodman, Lookingglass, The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, Chicago Children’s Theatre, Victory Gardens, Old Town School of Folk Music, and his TV/Film Credits include Happily After (Glass City Films) and Chicago Fire (NBC).

He has served as the director for the Chicago Public Schools' annual production at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, which was the recipient of the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award, presented by Michelle Obama in 2014. He has been nominated for sixteen Jeff Awards and has been awarded five, including three for Best Fight Choreography, one for Best Director of a Musical, and Best Production of a Musical. He was named one of the top five “Most Prolific Artists Of The Decade” by Time Out Chicago, and his production of Red Noses at Strawdog Theatre was named one of the Top Ten Shows of 2009 by Time Out Chicago.

​While completing his B.F.A. in acting from Southern Methodist University, he was the recipient of the Greer Garson Award, the Bob Hope Scholarship, and the Dallas Critics’ Forum Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Linus in You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown. He was a candidate for the Alan Schneider Directing Award, a finalist for the Eugene O’Neill National Directors Fellowship, a finalist for the National Alliance for Musical Theatre’s New Musical Theatre Festival, a semi-finalist for The Eugene O’Neill’s National Music Theatre Conference, and the recipient of a Faculty Research Support Program Award to fund My Heart Says Go (New Works Lab, University of Notre Dame) for creative development with Apples and Oranges Arts and The Goodman Theatre. He holds an M.F.A. in directing from The University of Iowa, where he was an Iowa Arts Directing Fellow and the recipient of the IRAM Award for outstanding contribution to Iowa’s New Play Festival.

William Donaruma
(Cinematographer):

William graduated from the University of  Notre Dame and went on to work in many areas of film and TV production for Universal Studios, various networks and production companies.  Since returning to ND, he has specialized in cinematography in narrative and documentary filmmaking.  He continues his work producing and filming internationally and working with RED Digital Cinema.  William is also the Creative Director for the Office of Digital Learning, where he directs and shoots original content for Notre Dame courses, including a historical tour of Chartres Cathedral in France and Listening to Puerto Rico, (http://listeningtopuertorico.org/) documenting personal stories from the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. More about William’s work and adventures can be found at williamdonaruma.com.

​Veronica Mansour (book/music/lyrics):
Veronica is a 22-year-old recent graduate from the University of Notre Dame. Veronica is an accomplished cellist and pianist.  She has been studying piano and cello since a very early age, training for many years at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music and The Colburn School.  In addition to her classical instrumental background, Veronica is also an accomplished singer, arranger (director, arranger, and founder of three a cappella groups) and writer.

She served as the assistant director of the Chaminade Middle School "C-Notes," and accompanied them/performed with them three times at Carnegie Hall while in middle and high school.  Veronica has performed with artists such as Kristin Chenoweth, Todd Rundgren, Chloe Agnew, members of the cast of Hamilton as both a cellist and a vocalist, and performed for many more, including Philip Glass and Martin Chalifour.

Veronica was the principal cellist of the University of Notre Dame Symphony Orchestra for the last two years and soloed with them last spring.  She is the founder of her own charitable organization, The Young Artists Alliance, which has raised over $25,000 for various children's charities. 

​She served as the Director of the University of Notre Dame's ​Gold and Blue Company.  Veronica also served as the Music Director and Vocal Coach for many shows including Guys and Dolls, The Imaginary Invalid (serving as composer and arranger on this project as well), and most recently, her own original musical, An Old Family Recipe. She has participated in a variety of master classes, competitions, and international music festivals, including being a selected cellist in the 2016 Piatigorsky International Cello Festival, performing at Disney Hall.  Veronica has also recently performed in several musicals, her favorite credits including ‘Thea’ in Spring Awakening and ‘Heather Chandler’ in Heathers: The Musical. She has been featured on the radio ("Sundays Live" on KUSC) and ABC's The Goldbergs.  Come fall, Veronica will be pursuing an MFA in Graduate Musical Theatre Writing at NYU Tisch School of the Arts.

Dylan Marie Parent
​(Production Stage Manager):
​
Dylan is thrilled to join An Old Family Recipe as the Production Stage Manager. In New York, Dylan works alongside Tony Award-winning commercial producer Hal Luftig. As part of the Hal Luftig Company, Dylan has produced on and off-Broadway including: Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite; Children of a Lesser God; and Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish. Dylan is currently developing Becoming Nancy and an adaptation of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

​In addition, Dylan produces Hal’s podcast Broadway Biz! for the Broadway Podcast Network. In the not-for-profit sector, Dylan has stage managed and production managed for Houses on the Moon Theatre Company and is a proud member of their gala committee. She is also a passionate advocate and volunteer for asylum seekers in New York City. Dylan has a B.A. with Honors in Film, Television, and Theatre from the University of Notre Dame and an M.A. in Collaborative Theatre Production and Design from The Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
